Help Landmark PS 199

Landmark West is work hard to save PS 199.  You can help by following the easy steps to send a postcard to the NYC Landmarks Preservation Committee.

Click here to send an email "postcard" to Hon. Robert Tierney, Chair of the NYC Landmarks Preservation Committee (LPC) and urge the LPC to hold an emergency public hearing to designate P.S. 199 an official NYC Landmark.
It is especially urgent that Commission act now to save P.S. 199. Designed by internationally-acclaimed architect Edward Durell Stone in 1963, P.S. 199 is currently threatened with demolition by the Department of Education Construction Fund. Read coverage of this issue in the New York TimesWest Side RagThe Daily News and DNAInfo.

  1. How can we lose this precious landmark and place for neighborhood people to gather? Our neighborhood is too fast becoming a concrete jungle. PS 199 helps keep a neighborhood feel.
    Please preserve

  2. Destroying a great school to build a condo. Greed is taking over this country. why must everything be about money and not whats good for the kids.

  3. In addition to being a fine example of Stone's architecture, the design of this wonderful school building is reminiscent to me of the design of our city's late, beloved Twin Towers. I find it comforting to see PS 199 every day. In my opinion, it is horrifying to think that the NYC Department of Education could be thinking of destroying this building.
